Plasmepsin V FRET Substrate, PEXEL-Derived

Dabcyl-LNKRLLHETQ-EDANS is a FRET substrate for Plasmepsin V, an endoplasmic-reticulum aspartic protease of Plasmodium parasites. The sequence is derived from a PEXEL-containing region of histidine-rich protein II and includes the RXL recognition motif processed by Plasmepsin V. Cleavage of PEXEL motifs licenses many parasite proteins for export into the infected erythrocyte, making this substrate useful for Plasmepsin V activity and inhibitor studies.
