Scientific Background

Suc-Arg-Pro-Tyr-pNA is an N-terminally succinylated chromogenic peptide substrate with chymotrypsin-like cleavage specificity that has been used in kallikrein-related protease assays. Cleavage liberates p-nitroaniline, enabling colorimetric monitoring near 405 nm. The Arg-Pro-Tyr motif provides a defined substrate for protease activity measurements and assay-development studies.

Research Applications
  • kallikrein-related protease assays
  • chromogenic protease measurements
  • enzyme kinetics
  • protease inhibitor screening
Experimental Notes

Release of p-nitroaniline provides a convenient optical readout but does not by itself establish enzyme identity in mixed samples. Use purified enzyme or selective protease controls for mechanistic interpretation.
