H4K8ac is a site-specific acetylated histone H4 mark involved in transcriptional regulation and chromatin remodeling. Acetylated H4 tails can be recognized by bromodomain-containing proteins, and H4K8 acetylation has been linked to recruitment of SWI/SNF chromatin-remodeling machinery.
