Scientific Background

TAMRA-YGRKKRRQRRR is a fluorescently labeled form of the HIV-1 Tat(47-57) cell-penetrating peptide. The parent 11-residue sequence is a canonical arginine-rich CPP used for intracellular delivery and membrane-translocation studies. TAMRA provides a red-orange fluorophore that enables direct imaging and quantitative analysis of peptide distribution and uptake.

Research Applications
  • TAT peptide uptake studies
  • confocal fluorescence microscopy
  • cell-penetrating peptide mechanism research
  • fluorescent delivery-assay development
Experimental Notes

TAMRA-labeled TAT has been used directly in membrane-translocation studies. Labeling can alter membrane association and trafficking, so results should be interpreted for the labeled construct rather than extrapolated automatically to unlabeled TAT.
