Scientific Background

Z-Gly-Gly-Arg-AFC is a fluorogenic arginine-terminal peptide substrate used for plasminogen activator and acrosin-related serine-protease assays. Enzymatic cleavage releases AFC, enabling sensitive fluorescence detection. The Gly-Gly-Arg motif is a compact recognition sequence historically used in assays of urokinase-type plasminogen activator and related trypsin-like proteases.

Research Applications
  • plasminogen activator assays
  • acrosin research
  • fibrinolytic protease studies
  • serine-protease inhibitor screening
Experimental Notes

Arginine-directed serine proteases can share substrate preferences, so specificity depends on the biological preparation. Use enzyme-selective controls when applying this substrate to complex samples.
