Penetratin Cell-Penetrating Peptide

Penetratin is a classic cell-penetrating peptide derived from the third helix of the Drosophila Antennapedia homeodomain. The arginine- and lysine-rich sequence can cross cellular membranes and has been used to deliver oligonucleotides, proteins and other cargos into cells.

Penetratin uptake depends on cargo, concentration, temperature and cell type. Do not assume that total cell-associated peptide represents cytosolic delivery; endocytic sequestration should be considered.
