Neurotensin Peptide

Neurotensin is a 13-residue neuropeptide with an N-terminal pyroglutamate. It modulates dopamine signaling, pituitary secretion, gastrointestinal smooth muscle activity and thermoregulatory or analgesic responses through neurotensin receptors.

The N-terminal pyroglutamate is part of the native peptide identity. The biologically important C-terminal region is represented separately by neurotensin(8-13).
