Scientific Background

ARRPAPAPG, designated KLK2a in the original inhibitor study, is a short linear peptide selected for inhibition of human kallikrein-related peptidase 2 (KLK2). KLK2 is a prostate-enriched serine protease, and peptide inhibitors such as KLK2a have been used to investigate enzyme specificity and KLK2-directed targeting strategies. Published comparisons also showed that linear KLK2a is susceptible to proteolytic degradation, an important consideration when comparing linear and cyclized inhibitor formats.

Research Applications
  • KLK2 enzyme inhibition assays
  • kallikrein specificity studies
  • serine-protease inhibitor research
  • linear-versus-cyclic peptide comparisons
Experimental Notes

The original literature describes KLK2a as a KLK2-selective linear inhibitor. Activity and proteolytic stability should be evaluated under the intended enzyme and biological conditions.
