Histone H4(1-7) is a short N-terminal tail fragment containing Lys5, a major site of histone H4 acetylation. The H4 tail is a central platform for post-translational modifications that regulate nucleosome interactions, chromatin accessibility and recruitment of chromatin-associated proteins.
