Histone H3 (31-41)

Histone H3(31-41) is an 11-residue unmodified peptide centered on Lys36. In the PHF19 Tudor-domain study, the exact unmodified sequence 31-ATGGVKKPHRY-41 was used directly as the unmethylated comparator to H3K36me2 and H3K36me3 peptides. The study found no substantial PHF19-Tudor binding to the unmodified or monomethylated H3K36 peptides, whereas H3K36me2 and H3K36me3 supported binding, making this exact unmodified construct a mechanistically meaningful negative/control ligand for methyl-state-selective reader studies.
