Glasstide PKG Substrate

RKRSRAE, commonly called Glasstide, is a compact serine-containing substrate for cGMP-dependent protein kinase (PKG). The peptide has been widely used to quantify PKG activity in biochemical and tissue-derived assays. Its central serine acts as the phosphate acceptor, while the surrounding basic residues support recognition by cyclic-nucleotide-dependent protein kinases.

Glasstide is relatively selective for PKG but assay specificity still depends on the biological sample. PKA inhibitors or purified enzyme systems are commonly used when discrimination from cAMP-dependent kinase activity is important.
