Scientific Background

C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP-22) is a 22-residue cyclic peptide with a disulfide bridge between Cys6 and Cys22. The sequence GLSKGCFGLKLDRIGSMSGLGC is the mature CNP-22 sequence and is highly conserved across mammalian species. CNP preferentially activates natriuretic peptide receptor-B/guanylyl cyclase-B (NPR-B/GC-B), increasing intracellular cGMP, and is widely studied in vascular, skeletal-growth and natriuretic-peptide signaling research.

Research Applications
  • NPR-B/GC-B receptor signaling studies
  • cGMP pathway research
  • cardiovascular peptide research
  • CNP structure-function studies
Experimental Notes

The Cys6-Cys22 disulfide bridge is integral to the mature cyclic peptide and must be preserved in the product definition. Biological response depends on receptor expression and assay conditions.
