Caspase-3/7 Fluorogenic Substrate, Ac-DEVD-AMC

Ac-DEVD-AMC is a fluorogenic DEVD peptide substrate for effector caspases, especially caspase-3 and caspase-7. Cleavage of the peptide releases 7-amino-4-methylcoumarin (AMC), producing strong blue fluorescence near 350 nm excitation and 440 nm emission. The DEVD motif is a standard biochemical reporter for execution-phase caspase activity in apoptosis research.

DEVD cleavage reflects combined activity of DEVD-preferring proteases and cannot by itself distinguish caspase-3 from caspase-7. Use selective inhibitors or orthogonal measurements when isoform assignment is required.
