Scientific Background | (Z-Ala-Ala)2Rh110 is a rhodamine 110-based fluorogenic substrate used for calpain and related protease activity measurements. The intact bis-peptidyl rhodamine derivative is weakly fluorescent; proteolytic hydrolysis generates highly fluorescent rhodamine 110. Rh110-based substrates offer strong signal output and have been applied to real-time and flow-cytometric measurements of intracellular proteolytic activity. |
Research Applications | - calpain activity assays
- intracellular protease measurements
- fluorescence-based enzyme assays
- protease inhibitor screening
|
Experimental Notes | The product is light sensitive. The released rhodamine 110 signal is typically monitored near 497 nm excitation and 527 nm emission. Protease selectivity should be validated in the intended assay system. |
