Bacterial Signal Peptidase I FRET Substrate

Dabcyl-AGHDAHASET-EDANS is an internally quenched substrate for bacterial type I signal peptidase (SPase I). The peptide contains a cleavage sequence derived from the C-terminal region of Staphylococcus epidermidis pre-SceD. Signal peptidase I removes N-terminal signal peptides from exported bacterial proteins, and this FRET substrate has been used to evaluate SPase I activity and its potential as an antibacterial target.
