Temporin A Amide Antimicrobial Peptide

Temporin A is a 13-residue C-terminally amidated antimicrobial peptide originally identified in the skin secretion of Rana temporaria. It belongs to the temporin family of short, hydrophobic host-defense peptides and preferentially displays activity against many Gram-positive bacteria. Biophysical studies show that temporins acquire membrane-associated structure in lipid environments, supporting their use as compact model peptides for antimicrobial membrane-interaction and structure-function research.
