Scientific Background | Syntide-2 is a 15-residue synthetic phosphorylation substrate derived from a glycogen-synthase phosphorylation region. It is widely used for calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII) activity measurements and can also be phosphorylated by protein kinase C. Its defined sequence and strong CaMKII response make it useful in comparative kinase assays and biochemical studies of calcium-dependent signaling. |
Research Applications | - CaMKII activity assays
- protein kinase C substrate studies
- calcium/calmodulin signaling research
- kinase inhibitor and enzyme-characterization assays
|
Experimental Notes | Syntide-2 is not absolutely kinase-specific. Quantitative interpretation should use matched enzyme concentrations and assay buffers, particularly when comparing CaMKII with PKC or other serine/threonine kinases. |
