Plasmodium falciparum Circumsporozoite Protein (NANP)6-Cys Peptide

NANPNANPNANPNANPNANPNANPC contains six tandem NANP repeats from the central repeat region of the Plasmodium falciparum circumsporozoite protein (PfCSP), followed by a C-terminal cysteine. NANP repeats form an immunodominant B-cell antigenic region of PfCSP and are recognized by protective and neutralizing anti-CSP antibodies. Synthetic (NANP)6 constructs have been used in antibody-binding, immunogenicity and malaria vaccine research.

The terminal cysteine is not part of the six NANP repeats and provides a convenient handle for conjugation or immobilization. Conjugation state, repeat number and presentation can substantially affect antibody binding and immunogenicity.
