Scientific Background

PAR-3 (1-6) amide (human) is a synthetic research peptide in the protease-activated receptor-3 (PAR-3)-related activating peptide family. PAR-3 is a thrombin-responsive member of the protease-activated receptor family. In selected cellular systems, synthetic peptides such as TFRGAP have been used to examine PAR-3-associated calcium mobilization and ERK signaling. PAR-3 pharmacology is more context-dependent than PAR-1 or PAR-2, so the exact peptide and experimental system are particularly important.

Research Applications
  • PAR-3-associated signaling studies
  • calcium-mobilization assays
  • ERK activation experiments
  • thrombin receptor comparisons
Experimental Notes

The exact sequence, isoform, residue substitutions, amidation, stereochemistry, labels, and other chemical modifications can change activity substantially. For receptor-activating peptides and membrane-active peptides, concentration and assay format are especially important and should be matched to the intended experimental system.
