Nocistatin

Nocistatin is a receptor like that of an opioid receptor. It may act as a neurotransmitter in the brain. The novel neuropeptide encoded by the gene for the nociceptin/orphanin FQ precursor. Nocistatin blocks nociceptin-induced allodynia and hyperalgesia, and attenuates pain evoked by prostaglandin E2.
