Scientific Background

Myr-SIYRRGARRWRKL is a myristoylated pseudosubstrate-derived peptide widely known as zeta inhibitory peptide (ZIP). It has been used to inhibit PKMzeta/PKCzeta-related signaling in biochemical and neuronal studies. Later work showed that ZIP can interact with multiple PKC family isoforms and disrupt conventional PKC targeting, so it is best treated as a potent PKC-family perturbation reagent rather than an absolutely PKCzeta-specific inhibitor.
