Scientific Background

Mca-PLGL-Dap(Dnp)-AR-NH2 is an internally quenched fluorogenic substrate developed for continuous matrix metalloproteinase assays. The Mca fluorophore is quenched by the Dnp group before cleavage; proteolysis at the Gly-Leu region separates the reporter and quencher and produces a strong fluorescence increase. The substrate has been characterized with several human MMPs and is useful as a sensitive general MMP activity reagent.
