Scientific Background

KKSRGDYMTMQIG-NH2 is an IRS1-derived peptide corresponding to the region around residues 979-989 of insulin receptor substrate-1 and contains the YMXM signaling motif. Tyrosine-phosphorylated YXXM motifs in IRS proteins recruit the SH2 domains of the p85 regulatory subunit of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K). The unphosphorylated peptide provides a sequence-defined IRS1 reagent for binding, phosphorylation and insulin-signaling assay development.

Research Applications
  • IRS1 signaling studies
  • PI3K/p85 interaction assay development
  • insulin-receptor pathway research
  • tyrosine phosphorylation studies
Experimental Notes

The supplied peptide is not pre-phosphorylated. High-affinity SH2-domain recognition of YXXM motifs generally depends on phosphotyrosine, so phosphorylation state should be matched to the experimental question.
