GDDDDK-βNA is a chromogenic/fluorogenic peptide substrate derived from the canonical enteropeptidase recognition motif Asp-Asp-Asp-Asp-Lys. Enteropeptidase, historically called enterokinase, initiates digestive zymogen activation by cleaving trypsinogen after this acidic Lys-containing sequence. The β-naphthylamide reporter provides a convenient analytical handle for measuring enteropeptidase activity and for studies of proenteropeptidase activation.
