Scientific Background

[D-Tyr27,36, D-Thr32]-Neuropeptide Y (27-36), rat; [D-Tyr27,36, is a synthetic research peptide in the neuropeptide Y (NPY) family. Neuropeptide Y is a 36-residue regulatory peptide that signals through the Y-receptor family. Native NPY, C-terminal fragments, substitutions, and constrained analogs are widely used to study Y1/Y2/Y4/Y5 receptor recognition, subtype selectivity, peptide conformation, and receptor activation. Published structure-activity work shows that relatively small sequence changes can markedly alter Y-receptor preference.

Research Applications
  • receptor-binding
  • competition assays
  • functional signaling assays
  • enzymatic-processing or stability studies
  • antibody controls
  • LC-MS/HPLC method development
  • comparative structure-activity experiments
Experimental Notes

For a fragment, residue-substituted analog, stereochemical variant, labeled peptide, or terminally modified form, experimental behavior should be evaluated for the exact construct rather than assumed to match the native parent peptide. Sequence-dependent solubility, aggregation, adsorption, and stability should be considered when selecting reconstitution and assay conditions.
