KTEEISEVN-Sta-VAEF is a statine-containing peptide inhibitor of beta-site amyloid precursor protein cleaving enzyme 1 (BACE1/β-secretase). The sequence is a substrate-transition-state analog derived from the APP beta-secretase cleavage region, with statine replacing the scissile-bond region to create a noncleavable inhibitory motif. Related inhibitor affinity matrices were instrumental in purification and characterization of human brain beta-secretase.
