Product Description

Substance P(1-9) is a fragment of Subtance P. Evidence shows that N- and C-terminal substance P fragments have significant biological activity. Substance P(1-9) has been reported to be major substance P metabolites in rat striatum and it has modulatory effects similar to substance P.

Scientific Background

Substance P (1-9) is a synthetic research peptide in the tachykinin neuropeptide family. Substance P, neurokinin A, and neurokinin B are mammalian tachykinins that preferentially interact with NK1, NK2, and NK3 receptors, respectively. Their shared C-terminal tachykinin motif is important for receptor activation, while N-terminal truncation, substitutions, and labels can alter affinity, selectivity, and stability.

Research Applications
  • tachykinin receptor binding and activation assays
  • NK1/NK2/NK3 pharmacology
  • calcium or phospholipase signaling studies
  • fragment and analog structure-activity comparisons
Experimental Notes

The exact sequence, species, residue range, terminal state, labels, stereochemistry, and post-translational modifications should be considered when comparing this reagent with the native peptide. Receptor potency and assay behavior should be validated in the intended experimental system.
