Scientific Background

HCV Core Protein (107-114) is a synthetic hepatitis C virus-derived antigenic peptide. HCV-derived peptides from core and nonstructural proteins are widely used to map CD8-positive and CD4-positive T-cell responses. Synthetic peptides have been used to define HLA-restricted CTL epitopes, examine sequence variation and immune escape, and quantify antigen-specific responses. The immunological properties of each reagent depend on its exact viral region, sequence, genotype or strain, and restricting HLA allele.

Research Applications
  • HCV-specific T-cell assays
  • HLA-restricted CTL epitope mapping
  • immune-escape variant studies
  • helper-T-cell experiments
  • viral sequence comparison
Experimental Notes

For antigenic or viral peptides, HLA restriction, cellular response, and immunological activity should not be inferred solely from the source protein name; the exact sequence, residue numbering, strain or genotype, and experimental system should be considered. For labeled or otherwise modified variants, the modification may also affect binding or assay behavior.
