Scientific Background

C-terminal Proghrelin Isoform Peptide, mouse is a synthetic research peptide in the ghrelin / proghrelin-derived peptide family. Ghrelin is a 28-residue peptide hormone and endogenous ligand for the growth hormone secretagogue receptor GHS-R1a. Native bioactive ghrelin carries an essential n-octanoyl modification at Ser3; unacylated, precursor-derived, truncated, or otherwise modified ghrelin peptides should therefore not be assumed to reproduce the receptor activity of acyl-ghrelin.

Research Applications
  • GHS-R1a receptor assays
  • ghrelin structure-activity studies
  • growth-hormone secretagogue research
  • proghrelin processing studies
  • acylated versus non-acylated peptide comparisons
Experimental Notes

The exact sequence, species, residue range, terminal state, labels, stereochemistry, and post-translational modifications should be considered when comparing this reagent with the native peptide. Receptor potency and assay behavior should be validated in the intended experimental system.
