Scientific Background | Biotinyl-MCH (salmon) is a synthetic research peptide in the melanin-concentrating hormone (MCH) peptide family. Melanin-concentrating hormone is a cyclic neuropeptide that activates MCH receptors. The human MCH receptor was molecularly characterized as a G-protein-coupled receptor responsive to nanomolar MCH, and subsequent mutagenesis/analog studies identified Arg11 of MCH as a critical determinant for receptor binding and activation. MCH fragments, substitutions, and related pro-MCH peptides are useful for receptor pharmacology and sequence-function analysis. |
