Scientific Background

Biotin-Pancreatic Polypeptide, human is a synthetic research peptide in the pancreatic polypeptide (PP) family. Pancreatic polypeptide belongs to the NPY/PYY/PP peptide family and is a high-affinity ligand for the Y4 receptor. A peptide structure-activity study of the cloned human PP-preferring receptor showed that the C-terminal region of PP is particularly important for high-affinity binding, while selected N-terminal residues also contribute. Species variants, C-terminal fragments, and modified PP peptides are consequently useful probes of Y4 receptor recognition.

Research Applications
  • Y4 receptor binding assays
  • NPY-family receptor selectivity studies
  • pancreatic polypeptide structure-activity experiments
  • species-variant comparisons
  • analytical peptide standards
Experimental Notes

For fragments, substituted analogs, labeled peptides, stereochemical variants, or terminally modified forms, experimental behavior should be evaluated for the exact construct rather than assumed to match the native parent peptide. Sequence-dependent solubility, aggregation, adsorption, oxidation, and stability should be considered when establishing reconstitution, storage, and assay conditions.
