Scientific Background

Biotin-Neuromedin S (human) is a synthetic research peptide in the neuromedin U / neuromedin S family. Neuromedin U (NMU) and neuromedin S (NMS) are related neuropeptides that activate NMUR1 and NMUR2. Their conserved C-terminal region contains important determinants for receptor activation, and shortened NMU peptides can retain potent receptor agonism. Native sequences, truncations, and stabilized analogs are therefore useful for NMU receptor pharmacology and peptide structure-function studies.

Research Applications
  • NMUR1 and NMUR2 receptor assays
  • agonist potency and selectivity studies
  • peptide stability experiments
  • C-terminal structure-activity studies
  • analytical reference applications
Experimental Notes

For fragments, substituted analogs, labeled peptides, stereochemical variants, or terminally modified forms, experimental behavior should be evaluated for the exact construct rather than assumed to match the native parent peptide. Sequence-dependent solubility, aggregation, adsorption, oxidation, and stability should be considered when establishing reconstitution, storage, and assay conditions.
