Scientific Background

Biotin-[Glu1]-Gastrin I (human) (phosphorylated) is a synthetic research peptide in the gastrin / cholecystokinin (CCK) family. Gastrin and cholecystokinin are structurally related gastrointestinal peptide hormones that act at CCK receptor subtypes. The conserved C-terminal region is especially important for biological activity, while sulfation state, terminal processing, residue substitutions, and fragment length can alter CCK1/CCK2 receptor affinity and functional response. Synthetic variants are therefore useful for receptor pharmacology and structure-activity studies.

Research Applications
  • receptor-binding
  • competition assays
  • functional signaling assays
  • enzymatic-processing or stability studies
  • antibody controls
  • LC-MS/HPLC method development
  • comparative structure-activity experiments
Experimental Notes

For a fragment, residue-substituted analog, stereochemical variant, labeled peptide, or terminally modified form, experimental behavior should be evaluated for the exact construct rather than assumed to match the native parent peptide. Sequence-dependent solubility, aggregation, adsorption, and stability should be considered when selecting reconstitution and assay conditions.
