Scientific Background

Phosphorylase Kinase b-Subunit Fragment (420-436) is a synthetic defined protein-kinase substrate or regulatory peptide. Synthetic kinase substrate peptides are used to measure phosphorylation, characterize sequence specificity, compare kinase activity, and develop biochemical assays. Kinase recognition depends on residues surrounding the phosphoacceptor and, for some kinases, additional docking motifs; therefore a peptide described for one kinase should not automatically be considered absolutely kinase-specific.

Research Applications
  • in vitro kinase activity assays
  • substrate-specificity and phosphorylation studies
  • kinase inhibitor screening
  • phosphopeptide and analytical assay development
Experimental Notes

The exact sequence, phosphorylation state, residue numbering, terminal modifications, labels, and species context should be matched to the intended assay. Sequence motifs support experimental interpretation but do not by themselves establish absolute enzyme specificity or native biological activity.
