Scientific Background

PAR-4 (1-6) amide (mouse) is a synthetic research peptide in the protease-activated receptor-4 (PAR-4) activating peptide family. PAR-4 is a thrombin-activated GPCR whose tethered-ligand sequence can be mimicked by short synthetic activating peptides such as AYPGKF-related sequences. These peptides permit receptor activation without proteolytic cleavage and are used to distinguish PAR-4-mediated platelet, inflammatory, and cell-signaling responses from those of other PAR family members.

Research Applications
  • PAR-4 receptor activation assays
  • platelet signaling studies
  • thrombin-receptor pathway experiments
  • PAR-selective agonist comparisons
Experimental Notes

Species, isoform, residue range, amidation state, stereochemistry, and other modifications can materially affect receptor affinity and biological response. The exact construct should therefore be matched to the intended assay and published reference context.
