Scientific Background

Neuropeptide W-30 (rat) is a synthetic research peptide in the neuropeptide W (NPW) family. Neuropeptide W is an endogenous hypothalamic peptide ligand for GPR7/NPBWR1 and, in humans, GPR8/NPBWR2. Two endogenous forms, NPW23 and NPW30, have been characterized. Experimental studies have used these peptides to investigate receptor activation, feeding behavior, energy expenditure, and hypothalamic signaling.

Research Applications
  • NPBWR1/GPR7 receptor assays
  • NPW23 versus NPW30 comparisons
  • hypothalamic signaling studies
  • feeding and energy-balance research
Experimental Notes

Species, isoform, residue range, amidation state, stereochemistry, and other modifications can materially affect receptor affinity and biological response. The exact construct should therefore be matched to the intended assay and published reference context.
