Scientific Background

Melanoma-associated antigen peptide; MART-1(27-35), human is a synthetic research peptide in the MART-1/Melan-A melanoma antigen peptide family. MART-1/Melan-A is a melanocyte differentiation antigen containing a well-characterized HLA-A2-restricted CTL epitope in the 26-35 region. The natural nonamer AAGIGILTV and related 10-mer/anchor-modified analogs have been used extensively for melanoma-specific T-cell detection, CTL expansion, HLA-binding studies, and comparison of native versus affinity-enhanced epitopes.

Research Applications
  • HLA-A2 peptide-binding assays
  • melanoma-specific CTL assays
  • T-cell tetramer/control studies
  • native-versus-anchor-modified MART-1 comparisons
  • tumor-antigen epitope research
Experimental Notes

For antigenic peptides, MHC/HLA restriction, species, viral strain or tumor-antigen isoform, residue numbering, sequence substitutions, and chemical modifications can materially affect peptide binding and cellular recognition. The exact construct should therefore be matched to the intended assay and the reference sequence used in the experimental system.
