Scientific Background

Influenza NP (147 - 155) is a synthetic influenza virus-derived antigenic peptide. Short peptides derived from influenza proteins such as matrix protein, nucleoprotein, and hemagglutinin have been used extensively to define MHC-restricted T-cell epitopes. Classic studies showed that synthetic influenza peptides can substitute for intact viral antigen in cytotoxic T-cell recognition and helped establish sequence motifs and anchor-residue requirements for HLA binding. The immune relevance of an individual peptide is allele-, strain-, and sequence-dependent.

Research Applications
  • MHC/HLA peptide-binding assays
  • influenza-specific T-cell stimulation
  • CTL epitope mapping
  • antigen-presentation controls
  • strain and sequence-variant comparisons
Experimental Notes

For antigenic or viral peptides, HLA restriction, cellular response, and immunological activity should not be inferred solely from the source protein name; the exact sequence, residue numbering, strain or genotype, and experimental system should be considered. For labeled or otherwise modified variants, the modification may also affect binding or assay behavior.
