Scientific Background

HSV-1-amide UL 26 Open Reading Frame (242-255) is a synthetic research peptide in the herpes simplex virus (HSV)-derived peptide family. Synthetic HSV peptides are used to define viral CTL epitopes and investigate antigen-specific T-cell responses. HSV-1 glycoprotein B residues 498-505 (SSIEFARL) form a well-characterized CD8 T-cell epitope in C57BL/6 models and have been used for tetramer analysis, peptide immunization, and functional CTL assays. Other HSV UL26/protease-region peptides are used for biochemical or antigenic studies and should be interpreted according to their exact residue range.

Research Applications
  • HSV-specific CD8 T-cell assays
  • viral CTL epitope studies
  • peptide immunization controls
  • tetramer and cytokine assays
  • HSV sequence-function studies
Experimental Notes

For antigenic peptides, MHC/HLA restriction, species, viral strain or tumor-antigen isoform, residue numbering, sequence substitutions, and chemical modifications can materially affect peptide binding and cellular recognition. The exact construct should therefore be matched to the intended assay and the reference sequence used in the experimental system.
