Defensin (human) HNP-2 is a synthetic research peptide in the human defensin antimicrobial peptide family. Human defensins are cysteine-rich cationic host-defense peptides. HNP-1, HNP-2, and related defensins contain conserved disulfide connectivity and have been studied for antimicrobial activity, peptide folding, oligomerization, membrane interactions, and the contribution of individual residues and disulfide constraints to biological function.
