Scientific Background

CEA Related, QYSWFVNGTF is a synthetic research peptide in the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA)-derived peptide family. Carcinoembryonic antigen is a tumor-associated glycoprotein from which HLA-restricted T-cell epitopes have been identified. The CAP1 peptide YLSGANLNL is a classic HLA-A2-binding CEA epitope, and altered peptide ligands have been used to enhance CTL induction. Other CEA-derived sequences are used for epitope mapping and comparative HLA-binding studies; activity should therefore be interpreted for the exact residue range and sequence.

Research Applications
  • CEA-specific CTL assays
  • HLA peptide-binding studies
  • tumor-antigen epitope mapping
  • altered-peptide-ligand comparisons
  • immune-monitoring controls
Experimental Notes

For antigenic peptides, MHC/HLA restriction, species, viral strain or tumor-antigen isoform, residue numbering, sequence substitutions, and chemical modifications can materially affect peptide binding and cellular recognition. The exact construct should therefore be matched to the intended assay and the reference sequence used in the experimental system.
