Applications | Amlintide, Islet Amyloid Polypeptide (IAPP) or amylin is a peptide hormone produced and stored in the beta-islet cells of the pancreas along with insulin. Amlintide forms amyloid fibrils in vitro. The deposition of fibrillar IAPP has been correlated with the pathology of type II diabetes. The helical dimerization of IAPP accelerates fibril formation and that insulin impedes fibrillation by blocking the IAPP dimerization interface. |
Storage | Store at -20°C for up to 2 years. |

Scientific Background | Amylin (1 - 37), human is a synthetic research peptide in the amylin peptide family. Amylin is a 37-residue pancreatic peptide. Human and rodent amylin differ in sequence and aggregation propensity, so species identity and modifications are important experimental variables in receptor, aggregation, and analytical studies. |
Research Applications | - amylin aggregation studies
- amylin receptor research
- species-dependent structure-function comparisons
- analytical peptide studies
|
Experimental Notes | The exact sequence, residue range, species, terminal state, and chemical modifications should be matched to the intended assay. Fragmentation or processing can materially alter receptor selectivity, potency, aggregation, or enzymatic behavior. |
