IPTG dioxane free-1000 Grams

LifeTein IPTG (isopropyl-β-D-thiogalactopyranoside) is a highly stable synthetic analog of lactose to induce β-galactosidase activity in many bacteria. IPTG induces β-galactosidase activity by binding to and inhibiting the lac repressor. This product is used to differentiate recombinants from nonrecombinants in cloning strategies using vectors containing the lacZ or lacZ β-peptide gene.

Product Name
IPTG, Dioxane-Free
Product Description
IPTG (CAS 367-93-1) is used in the stimulation of β-galactosidase in cellular systems in which dioxane would disrupt normal cell function. IPTG is used for blue/white colony screening to distinguish recombinant (white) from non-recombinant (blue) colonies. It is used for induction of gene expression under control of the lac promoter.
